St
Paul's Bay and its neighbours, Bugibba and Qawra are Malta's largest,
seaside resorts. They offer plentiful accommodation ranging from self-catering
apartments to hotel complexes and a variety of nightlife and leisure options.
The coastline here has some wonderful open sea views and a vista across to St Paul's Island. The coastline promenade provides a long, though mostly level and easy walk from St Paul's Bay all the way to Qawra Point, with its tower and views over Salina Bay. St Paul's Bay started life as a small fishing village. St. Paul’s Chapel, built in 1617, was carefully restored after suffering heavy damage in World War II. Nearby is the Wignacourt Tower built in 1610 during the reign of Grand Master Alof de Wignacourt. It served as Malta's northern-most defensive outpost until fort St. Agatha was built in Mellieha in 1649. Today, it houses a small museum dedicated to Malta's rich military-architectural heritage. It is also neighbour to the larger Parish church of St. Paul’s Bay which was built in 1906. St Paul's Bay is a traditional, quiet, fishing village, and is where this family self catering holiday home is located. Although very authentic, it is close to Bugibba and Qawra where you can find numerous bars, restaurants and other entertainment venues. The best sandy beaches in Malta are only twenty minutes away, although the swimming is excellent just down the road (from rocky beaches) and there are also several swimming pools open for the public in the area. The house is located in the north east of the island of Malta, in St Paul's Bay (San Pawl il-Bahar in Maltese) which is an old fishing village and is situated 16km from the capital city Valletta. Its name refers to the shipwreck of Saint Paul, as documented in the Acts of the Apostles, due to the tradition that Saint Paul was shipwrecked on the isles, named St. Paul's Isles, which are situated in Saint Paul's Bay. The island of Saint Paul is clearly visible from the balcony of this self catering accommodation. The Maltese house of character is found in a tranquil setting yet within easy walking distance to all holiday needs and entertainments for all ages. In the heart of St Paul's Bay, 5 mins walking from the accommodation, there is a grocer/ greengrocer/ fresh fish shop, also selling wine, ice creams, newspapers etc. There is also a bakery for daily fresh bread, the wonderful Maltese 'hobza'. Malta only has one airport, about 30 min away from St. Paul's Bay, and we will gladly help you with transport to and from the airport. The Maltese Islands have been described as one big open-air museum. What makes them unique is that so much of their past is visible today. Delve into the Islands' mysterious prehistory, retrace the footsteps of St Paul or see where the Knights of St John defended Christendom. Click here to learn more about Malta.
